We are very excited to Kick-off Read Week this year at
Saint Hilary! Here’s a glimpse at some of the
activities your family may take part in during the
week. We hope you will participate in as many of these
as possible to support our school and help make Read
Week a success! More details coming soon!

CAN HELP SUPPORT OUR SCHOOL DURING READ WEEK:

- DONATE GENTLY USED
BOOKS! Bring
used books to school for our community/parish
book swaps. Drop Boxes will be available in front of
the school and church.

- PARTICIPATE IN OUR
COMMUNITY/PARISH BOOK SWAP! Join us after all
masses in the parish hall for hospitality and pick up a
donated book to take home.

- VISIT BARNES & NOBLE
IN CORTE MADERA! Help support our school by
visiting Barnes and Noble during reg. business hours:
10 a.m. – 10 p.m. to purchase Books, DVDs, Music, Books
on CD, Games, Gifts, Coffee and more! Please remember to

at check-out. Our school will receive a percentage of
your total sales.

By forwarding our

and family, they too, can help support Saint Hilary
during our Read Week! When they visit any
Barnes & Noble in the U.S. from November 9 – 15, a
percentage of their purchases will support our school.
They must give our voucher code # to the cashier
at check-out. (Note: On-line purchases are not eligible
for school support).

During Read Week, enjoy a meal at one or more of our
participating restaurants in the Corte Madera Town
Center. Present corresponding coupons to your server
during regular business hours and our school will

WILL PARTICIPATE DURING READ WEEK:

Student Book Swap
- Students
are encouraged to bring gently used books to donate for
our school Book Swap to be held during Read Week.
Designated drop boxes will be placed in the library and
throughout the school. So, clean out those shelves and
get ready to SWAP!

Student Wish Lists

Look for your child’s wish list to come home!

– Daily Read Time
–
Students, teachers and our entire staff will drop what
they’re doing, pick up a book and read during designated
time periods each day this week.
November 9

- “Mystery Reader”
- During Library time, members of our school and
rectory staff will read to students in PK – 4th.
Students will have a chance to guess who a mystery
reader might be given some fun facts about that person.
November 10
- “Reading Rotation”
– Students will participate in a rotation activity by
reading from various books from different genres. They
will have approx. 8 minutes before moving on to a
different book. Genres such as non-fiction, fiction,
poetry, classics, fantasy, and biography will be
represented.
November 12
- “Parent Read-A-Loud”
- (Grades PK – 5) Parent volunteers will
read from one of their favorite childhood books in the
classroom and discuss the book with students. (Grades 6th
– 8th) Students will experience a Classic
Tales Pod-cast in their classrooms.
November 13

“Book Swap”
- All grades will participate in our Student Book Swap.
Our team of volunteers will bring a selection of donated
books to each classroom. Students will select a book to
take home.
October
- “Reading Builds
Character”
-
During the month of October as part of Art Studio,
students will have an opportunity to create art projects
depicting their favorite book character. Art projects
will be displayed in our school and in Barnes & Noble
store during Read Week.
